Foreign Minister Highlights Kingdom’s Dedication to Regional, Global Development at 173rd BIE General Assembly
Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah stated that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will continue to devote its efforts to regional and global cooperation and development.
“We take pride in the efforts and achievements that the Kingdom has made thus far,” said the Foreign Minister as he led Saudi Arabia’s delegation at the 173rd General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) held in Paris today.
The General Assembly witnessed the voting on bids to host the 2030 World Expo.
“We will persist in our efforts for cooperation and development at regional and international levels, and we hope to have the honor of welcoming the world to the Riyadh Expo 2030, seven years from now,” Prince Faisal bin Farhan said.
The Foreign Minister highlighted the significance of the year 2030, as it marks three critical milestones: Expo 2030, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Saudi Vision 2030.
“The Kingdom is actively working to accelerate progress on these three fronts,” emphasized the Foreign Minister. “As we strive to develop and transform our economy, we believe that the Kingdom’s progress, along with regional development and the well-being of the global economy, will advance steadily.”
During his speech, the Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for the support of 130 countries that backed Riyadh's bid to host Expo 2030. He also commended the bids presented by competing countries today.
He underlined the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to cooperating with all nations in hosting the expo, which he described as “built by the world for the world.”
Additionally, he shed light on a comprehensive facilities package worth $348 million allocated by the Kingdom to a group of 100 eligible countries participating in the expo.
The Kingdom’s delegation at the 173rd General Assembly includes Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Mayor of Riyadh Region Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, Princess Haifa bint Abdulaziz Al Mogrin, Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal Alibrahim, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Member of Cabinet, and Envoy for Climate Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir, Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al Khateeb, CEO of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) Ibrahim Al-Sultan, and Advisor at the General Secretariat of the Cabinet Fahd Al-Rasheed attended the assembly as part of the Saudi delegation.
